In addition to managing monetary donations, Joyofgiving Global Foundation is engaged in Resource Mobilization as well. A resource, which seems to be useless for somebody could be of great value to someone else. It’d be a great idea if such resources could be systematically channelized to those in need. This would open up a reservoir of resources, which are already there but haven’t been tapped. This would be a case of using a ‘surplus’ from somewhere to fill the gaps in ‘deficits’ somewhere else. And that ‘surplus’ need not be ‘brand new’…
Donations in kind that we’re particularly interested in are:
As stated earlier, the Foundation acts as a custodian of the resources donated by you and sees to it that they safely reach the right people at the right time.
We, at Joyofgiving Global Foundation have used the concept of giving in kind, to the best advantage of both donors and receivers, with far-reaching impacts on various fronts:
Personal Front : Receivers get to meet their needs, free of cost, enabling them to divert the money they would require to buy that particular resource, to meet their other needs. For donors, it’s a feeling of satisfaction that they’ve been of use to somebody in need, that too, without actually incurring any expenses afresh
Economic Front : This is an excellent model of transfer of resources from unused corners to where they’ll actually be utilized. The benefits on the economic front have two dimensions here as it marks a saving in terms of money for the receiver and a saving in terms of resources for the global economy.
Environmental Front : This is in line with the 3 R’s policy : “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”, which is gaining currency in Environmental circles. By reusing a resource, we’re in fact, reducing its immediate demand and hence, prolonging the availability of a resource
Social Front : This helps in reducing the gap between the upper and the lower strata of society. Those who receive resources in kind can actually push themselves up the ladder by diverting the funds on hand, to improve their living conditions. This exchange program will also help to draw people from the two strata of society closer, in terms of understanding each other
